How Can You Help?

Since we are a volunteer-run charity with only 6 full-time employees, and a mostly part-time staff, every penny donated goes to buy, store, transport and give away nutritious food to hungry neighbors.

Our wonderful donors provide the meat, vegetables, fruit, eggs, milk, bread and canned and dry goods for more than 24 million meals a year for an average cost of about 3 cents.

Our deliveries to shut-in seniors and people with disabilities are sponsored by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County.

We are proud to partner with Extraordinary Charities to make Palm Beach County a better place to live for the less fortunate. Please email Dan Shorter at daneshorter@yahoo.com if you heard about our pantry through Extraordinary Charities.

Our meal costs are so low because our CEO is a volunteer, most of our work is done by volunteers and the majority of our food is rescued from going to the dump or donated.

6+ million lbs. of food given away annually worth more than $20 million

We’re delivering nutritious food to 1,100+ shut-in seniors, veterans and people with disabilities — most receive food every week.

Our phones are ringing off the hook from people who have no way to feed their families. Meanwhile meat, produce and canned goods donations have dwindled.

“You know that cinnamon bread you sent me last month?” the vet asked. “It was so good. I cut a slice for breakfast every morning as long as I could.”

“I looked at the grocery store and I can’t afford it. Could you please send me another loaf this month?”

So, Jacquie and the delivery team sent him 2 loaves.

Harvey’s social worker told us that until our volunteers started taking him food that Harvey didn’t eat regularly.

That was true for all of the 850+ households we delivered to last year until they met us, including 550+ starving, shut-in seniors who now get food weekly.

The items you help us distribute are essential to those who pick up their own food also.

“The food I receive from you every month helps me and my family…save money…to manage the rent and utilities,” said Bonnie, who picks up her 120+ lbs. of healthy food in the pantry line. “It is one less worry…we count down the days to our next food pickup day.”

Mrs. Berry agreed: “Your pantry saves my family…stress and despair when we need to pay the rent. My family and I are eternally grateful….May God bless…your volunteers, your sponsors and everyone involved…”

Examples of who we give healthy food to:

1 – Three veterans who collected and recycled cans to get enough money to come register.

2 – Linda who came home from a rehab center after having both legs amputated to find her sister had stolen all the food in her home. We made a food delivery the day we found out.

3 – Families of children who are coping with cancer treatments.

4 – Patients at a free medical clinic who have no food at home.

5 – Hungry men and women who work behind the scenes at the South Florida Fair.
